CREATOR GOD “IN THE BEGINNING, GOD CREATED…” GENESIS 1:1

The Bible tells us that God has created everything that we can touch, taste, see, smell, and hear. He has even created things we as humans do not yet understand or know exist. He has created the universe and all that is in it, including you. As Creator, He has the right to tell us how to live. He created mankind to love, serve, and enjoy being with Him forever.

SIN OF MAN “…INDEED, HAS GOD SAID, ‘YOU SHALL NOT EAT FROM ANY TREE OF THE GARDEN’?…. GENESIS 3:1

When God created the first man (Adam) and first woman (Eve), He placed them in what was called the Garden of Eden. It was a beautiful place where all of man’s needs were met and man enjoyed a pure and holy fellowship with God. God had only one condition; for man to not eat of a particular tree called The Knowledge of Good and Evil. God strictly warned man that the day that he eats of this tree he would die. Over a series of deceptions and choices, man ate the forbidden fruit from that tree and for the first time knew what it was like to directly disobey their Creators’ commands. The death that they would now experience would not only be a future physical death, but an instant spiritual death that would be passed down from generation to generation.

CONSEQUENCES OF MAN’S SIN OF DISOBEDIENCE “THROUGH ONE MAN SIN ENTERED INTO THE WORLD, AND DEATH THROUGH SIN, AND SO DEATH SPREAD TO ALL MEN, BECAUSE ALL SINNED…” ROMANS 5:12

When Adam and Eve disobeyed God’s direct command, it resulted in an uncoupling of their once undefiled relationship with God. Adam and Eve became ashamed of themselves and sought to hide from their Creator and to cover their nakedness. In an act of grace and love, The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and Eve and clothed them. The first physical deaths should have been the man and his wife, but it was an animal. This was a foreshadow of the reality that God would someday provide a substitute to redeem sinful mankind. Adam and Eve were then driven out of the garden because of their disobedience to God. Consequently, the earth, mankind, and animals have to suffer and live in this world that includes death, pain, and all manner of wickedness.

CONSEQUENCES OF THE SPIRITUAL DEATH “AND YOU WERE DEAD IN YOUR TRESPASSES AND SINS…”EPHESIANS 2:1

Since Adam and Eve’s disobedience (sin) in the Garden, mankind is now born physically alive, but spiritually dead. This spiritual lifelessness prevents them from being able to come into a right relationship with God, who is Spirit. That is why being born again spiritually is vitally important. Several generations after the first sins of Adam and Eve, God gave mankind 10 Commandments which were put in place to help sinful mankind establish moral principles, regulate love towards God and fellow mankind, and show them how to properly worship Him as their Creator. Some of them include: not to make idols for yourself, not to lie, steal, or murder. Breaking any one of the 10 Commandments is direct disobedience to God and is called sin which is no different then what Adam and Eve did in the Garden. God is pure, blameless, and flawless in all of His being and will not allow sin to go unpunished, regardless of its magnitude. He can see all of your thoughts and knows all of the sins that you have committed.

SUBSTITUTE FOR SIN “HE MADE HIM WHO KNEW NO SIN TO BE SIN ON OUR BEHALF, SO THAT WE MIGHT BECOME THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD IN HIM” 2 CORINTHIANS 5:21

In God’s continued plan of love to redeem mankind back to Himself, He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, into the world nearly 2000 years ago. Jesus was born of a virgin woman named Mary and lived a sinless life here on the earth. Jesus Christ healed the sick, forgave men of their sins, and even cast out demons that were in the people. Jesus lived the life that Adam was intended to live; a life of perfect obedience and purity. Jesus followed all of the 10 Commandments and obeyed them perfectly, thus fulfilling the righteous demands of God the Father. Then, according to the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, Jesus was nailed to a Roman Cross and became the substitute for guilty sinners. God laid on Jesus the fierce wrath that is reserved for all who have and will sin and do evil in His sight. After Jesus’ physical death on the cross, His body was then laid in a tomb for 3 days and 3 nights. He then rose again from the dead on the third day thereby conquering death and the grave for all those who would put their faith in Him.

REPENTANCE AND FAITH “REPENT AND BELIEVE THE GOSPEL” – MARK 1:15

How does all of this apply to you? The payment for those that choose a life that is devoted to sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life when you put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ to save you. God commands you to turn away from disbelief in Him and to believe in Jesus Christ alone to save you from the wrath to come. God has appointed a day in which He will judge mankind on the basis of their righteousness. This righteousness cannot be earned by your good deeds here on earth. It is a righteousness that is from God, through God and to God. Therefore repent (turn away) from your life of disobedience and sin and receive the salvation that is only found in Jesus Christ.
